Abstract
This review comprehensively covers both recent and foundational studies on the direct vicinal azido-halogenation of alkenes to produce 1,2-haloazides. It is organized into four main sections based on the halogen involved: (i) azido-fluorination, (ii) azido-bromination, (iii) azido-chlorination, and (iv) azido-iodination. Within each section, the reactions are further classified by their regioselectivity, highlighting Markovnikov versus anti-Markovnikov outcomes to provide insight into their mechanistic pathways and selectivity patterns.
